Unveiled just last year, it’s clear that any worry our local drivers might have about the 2018 Audi Q5 not living up to the reputation of the first-gen model have been put to rest. As the brand’s most popular model worldwide, that’s good news, but the numerous awards the Q5 has won only further validate that as a solid pick.

Boasting a new quattro with ultra all-wheel drive system, and recent Audi advancements such as adaptive cruise control, Virtual Cockpit, and a lightweight chassis, the 2018 Q5 raises the bar in every category. Thanks to the fuel sipping AWD system, this compact utility also boasts class-leading fuel efficiency while still being a top performer. The sum total of these advancements has increased global sales, and won awards from Kelley Blue Book and the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety—among others.

In fact, the Q5 hasn’t won just won awards from KBB—it won two. With standard safety systems, leather upholstery, Audi MMI, and spacious accommodations at the top of its class, the Q5 was shoe-in for the KBB “Best Buy” award for luxury utilities. Audi’s compact crossover also won the “Best Auto Tech” award, for available systems like Virtual Cockpit, the heads-up display, and semi-autonomous adaptive cruise control functions.

The 2018 Q5 also joins the eight Audi models that have been awarded Top Safety Pick or higher from the IIHS. These days, such designations are for more than how a vehicle performs in a collision, but how they avoid them entirely. In that, the Q5’s suite of active safety systems and fully-galvanized unibody construction helped it win top honors.

You can find a basic safety package on even a base Premium model, with features like automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, and the ability to tighten safety belts and close windows to prepare for an unavoidable collision. Also on the menu are essentials like parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, active lane keep assist, and the aforementioned adaptive cruise control system.

But awards aren’t what sways our customers from Irving and Lancaster, TX to buy cars. It’s the experience behind the wheel. For anyone who has added the Q5 to their short list, we’re sure it’s one you’ll remember when it comes time to make your choice!
