If You Can Imagine a 450-hp Allroad, You Can Fathom the 2018 Audi RS4 Avant

Although imbued with the sportiness of most Audi models, the high ride height of the A4 Allroad doesn’t particularly lend itself well to performance the way the Europe-only A4 Avant does. Both are wagons, yes, but the latter is designed for it. The same can be said of the 2018 RS4 Avant, which packs 450 horsepower and the hopes and dreams of many U.S. enthusiasts.

Based off the A4 we know and love, the RS4 Avant will be the range-topping performance model for the family. Under the hood, a 2.9-liter bi-turbo V6 cranks 450 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, good for a 4.1 second route to sixty from a dead stop. Impressive? Oh yes. Better still, the RS4 will get advancements like a ZF eight-speed automatic, Virtual Cockpit, Audi MMI and Connect, and a full suite of driver assistance gear. While there are no plans for an RS4 sedan, or to bring the wagon state-side, the recent change of heart about the RS3 has us holding our breath.

While the A4 Allroad is the closest in shape, the new RS5 Sportback is closer in performance. But if there’s one new Audi we really Avant, it’s this. Although there are no substitutes, we do offer plenty of thrilling Rennsport models at our Dallas, TX location. Contact us to schedule a test drive.
